Waterproofing

Water Repellent
Breathable, penetrating water repellants allow
water vapor out of masonry and repels the exterior moisture.

Why Waterproof?

Masonry is breathable by nature, moisture is expected to work it's way through the masonry over time. Exterior waterproofing is performed to reduce the amount of exterior moisture penetrating the substrate.

Do All Waterproofing Products Work the Same Way?

There are several different methods to waterproofing that products are designed for. The method commonly used involves breathable silane water repellants. Unlike other methods, these products allow the wall to perform as designed, instead of blocking the breathability of the wall.

When Should Waterproofing be avoided?

Any waterproofing that interferes with the breathability of the wall in the original design functionality should be avoided.
